Public Understanding of Law; Foresight Cognition; Behavioral Epistemology
Dr. Michelle Cowley is a Social Statistician and a Royal Statistical Society Fellow. She is an early-career expert on foresight and behavioral epistemology. Amongst others she was an Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences Scholar researching hypothesis testing behavior at Trinity College Dublin (2002-2005), and a postdoctoral and visiting Katzenbach Research Fellow in Socio-Legal Studies and Law, researching juror behavior at the University of Oxford and Princeton University (2007-2010). She has been an Associate Research Fellow researching e-health systems in North-Eastern Ireland in conjunction with the Centre of Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Oxford, and an Economic and Social Science Research Council Peer Review College Member (2009-2014). At present, she is a Royal Statistical Society methodological advisor for researchers working on public health funding applications for HSC Northern Ireland.
